Firsts

First day of first grade...

First time that I didn't cry (but did I ever have that sicky feeling in my stomach all day long)

First time that I didn't look back in the door after we walked out (I knew the tears would process if I did)

2 thumbs up for a great day!

We went to Salsarita's for dinner tonight and the balloon lady was there!  I hope this day will be in Callie Grace's memory bank for years to come.  I can remember my first day of 1st grade!

I love Caleb's facial expression here!

Back to school dinner

We enjoyed the back to school dinner at Bogarts tonight complete with face painting, balloons and homemade ice cream.  Our children had a great time.  Everything was so organized!  Caleb had a snake painted on his face and CG had a rainbow with a unicorn painted on hers.

What we've been up to...

We have been enjoying our last days of summer!  One more week and we officially have a first grader!  Caleb doesn't start the 4's class until after Labor Day.  He will go every day this year from 9am-12pm.

We enjoyed visiting friends in Charleston.  We had fun on their boat and at the beach!

Silly boy!

Caleb on the merry-go-round!
We are using this week to start implementing our normal bedtimes and to finish getting ready for school.  We have had a great summer.  Here's to a great school year!

We're having a tea party!

**Caleb has decided to have no more pictures taken of him.  Hopefully this is just a phase.  He runs and hides when the camera comes out.**

Callie Grace received a paint your own tea set for her birthday from Miss Linda.  We painted it this weekend, baked it in the oven and have had MANY tea parties already.  We have had lots of fun and it has been the perfect opportunity to discuss manners!

She did a great job painting!

Love this picture (looking at it made me realize that we didn't talk about elbows or napkins!):)

Blowfish Game

Callie Grace and Caleb participated in the summer reading program at our local library.  When they completed their final level of reading, they were given free passes to attend the blowfish baseball game.  They got to wear their reading medals, meet the mascot and watch a little of the game.  We (Caleb) made it an hour.  I am so surprised that he made it that long!  Callie Grace wanted to stay until it ended so you can imagine the drama that ensued.  All in all, I think they had a good time.  A big thank you goes out to mimi for going with us.  Kip had to work late so he got out of wasn't able to go! ;)

so excited to be at the game
